If you have struggled to lose weight in the past, it might have been that you weren’t evaluated to find the true cause of your weight or health problem.
We run several vital tests to determine the level of health and the level of fat burning your body can do. Trying to lose weight with out these tools is like trying to fly a kite without wind – it won’t work.

Don’t Do It – Unless You Do It the Right Way!

To do it correctly, you need to get evaluated properly. Here is a list of the tests that we perform and their purpose.

Exercise Recovery Testing (ERT)

This test is a must for those who want to do exercise. As a matter of fact, I would not even think about a gym membership or a home-based exercise routine until I had the results of this test.

ERT measures how quickly the body’s ability to get back to pre-exercise status happens. This is more than simply measuring your breathing or pulse rate. It is measuring “recovery” in the body. Recovery is a part of the nervous system where FAT BURNING takes place. If you don’t get enough recovery, you do not burn fat.

Some clients have exercised for one minute and it has taken them over 45 minutes to “recover.” These were people who have been regularly to the gym. The result is that all of that time and money and effort in the gym has not contributed to fat burning and has probably made it worse.

Health Snapshot (Stress Test)

The Stress test evaluates your automatic nervous system in terms of how it is handling body and life stress.

This is not your outward perception of whether or not you handle stress, but a look at where stress is handled deep inside the body – the nervous system.

Why is this important? If you are not handling stress appropriately or if your body is not able to get back down to normal functioning levels after stress – YOU WILL NOT BURN FAT!

The information from this type of testing will allow us to determine if you should even be working out. Yes, that is correct. Sometimes exercise is not appropriate – especially if your body is already dealing with too much stress.

Biological Age

We often gauge our level of health by what we see in the mirror. If the bags aren’t too bad and the dark circles aren’t too dark and we can get to work and back then we must be OK.
As the saying goes “There is more than meets the eye.” To get a true measure of our health and also our ability to BURN FAT off, you must take into account what is happening inside of the body.

Biological Age testing measures your body’s response to stress and compares it against the normal for your age. The result? You may be older on the inside. Many people DO feel older than they really are.

Bio Impedance Analysis (BIA) or Body Composition Test

So, you say you’re over weight. Are you carrying fat or water…or both? If you don’t know the answer to these questions, you run the risk of working on the wrong problem to lose weight.

Understanding where and what the weight is is absolutely essential for anyone wanting to lose weight. For those struggling to lose weight an understanding of where that weight is and what form it is in is essential for choosing the appropriate type of program.

Losing weight always seems to be about losing fat. Don’t get me wrong, losing fat is important, but the body must lose water first. Too often, people will downplay the water weight that they have lost saying, “It is only water weight.” Yes it is water weight, but it is a first step to getting the body to the point of burning fat.

Exercise Analysis (EA)

The EA is a “snapshot” of your current exercise habits (or lack of) and whether or not they are really appropriate for your body type.

You see, “one-size-fits-all” is not applicable with exercise. Different bodies have different needs. Don’t get caught in the trap of doing what everyone else is doing – find out what your body needs are!

 

Fat Burning Analysis (FBA)

The FBA is a “snapshot” of your lifestyle at this moment in time. It is an opportunity to see if your life choices are triggering the fat burning or fat storing hormones. Often people may feel that their diet and lifestyle is good – yet strangely they still have trouble burning the fat away. The reason is that there are more variables to getting the body to burn fat than just exercise or dieting.
The FBA brings to light five areas that will show either fat burning or fat storing results. To the right is a sample graph. Optimum fat burning is considered 100. This is an example – you need to look at your graph for your results.


Fat Burning Tracker Coach (FBTCoach)

The Fat Burning Tracker Coach is a unique diet and exercise tracking program to help you create health and keep you in fat burning.

The FBTCoach tracks your food, your exercise and your body changes and calculates the impact your actions and choices have on the hormones that burn fat or store fat.

This program goes way beyond simply counting your calories or measuring your portions as a matter of fact – it does none of that. It tracks where the true influences of fat burning – the HORMONES.

You will log your information in daily and at the end of the week, you will get a report from Dr. Erickson.

  1. Give Dr. Erickson your email address so he can invite you into the program.
  2. You will receive and email from the FBTcoach.com inviting you into the program.
  3. Follow the instructions, create your user name and password, then answer the questions. If you do not receive an email, it could be that your computer filtered out the email. Check your junk/spam mailbox and if it isn’t there, send us an email @ info@whatismybodyshape.com or go to step 4. If you get no link, then go to www.fbtcoach.com and fill out the form to begin the process.
  4. If you have any problems getting in, call our office at (719) 573-9700 and we will walk you through it.
  5. Watch the tutorials and then log back into the program to start using the program. If you do not have time to watch it now, you can watch it later in the educational tab.
  6. Once you log your email and password into the program, you will be able to enter your “Food for the Day”. Make sure to click Liver Enhancement if you are starting the program on Detox or Liver Enhancement.
  7. When entering in your food, please enter in the general food dish, as we are not concerned in the program to identify brand names or hard to find foods. Find a food that is similar. A chicken wrap would be similar to a turkey wrap, as far as, fat burning. A green salad is the same as a mixed green salad. If you cannot find something similar, type in “Cannot Find Food” at the bottom.
  8. Now click Body Changes and rate your body changes. Click update.
  9. Click Exercise if you have worked out and fill it out.

Seven days later, you will receive a message in your Report Tab. This will be your report. Pull it up and print it out. Dr. Erickson is available to discuss any questions you have via email or bring in your report on your next regularly scheduled visit.
